The Year We Actually Lived

Four evenings of writing, wonder, and what's next.

We spend an extraordinary amount of time thinking about how our lives should look, where we should be by now, and what we ought to have accomplished.

Meanwhile, there's a whole life happening.

The conversations we never expected. The small kindnesses. The things that made us laugh. The losses, surprises, changes of heart, and quiet moments of courage. The things we learned about ourselves, and the moments we almost forgot.

Before we rush into another year, what if we gave this one a little attention?

The Year We Actually Lived is a four-part online writing and reflection experience exploring the stories we carry, the lives we're living, and the possibilities still ahead.

Together, we'll explore memory, gratitude, the expectations that shape us, the meaning we make of our experiences, and the ways we might meet the future with greater curiosity, imagination, and trust.

Each gathering will include a little storytelling, guided reflection or imagery, time to write, and opportunities for conversation.

This isn't a writing class, and nobody will be critiquing your work. You don't need writing experience, and you'll never be required to read what you've written.

Come as you are. Bring a notebook. Bring your curiosity. You might be surprised by what you discover.

Our Four Evenings

November 11 — The Year We Actually Lived
Remembering the moments that mattered, including the ones we nearly overlooked.

November 18 — Whose Life Am I Measuring?
The expectations, comparisons, and old stories that influence how we measure a life.

December 9 — The Things That Held Us
An exploration of gratitude, connection, resourcefulness, and the things that sustained us.

December 16 — The Life Still Unfolding
Using imagination, guided imagery, and writing to explore hope, possibility, and our relationship with the future.

Between our November and December gatherings, you'll receive gentle invitations to practice noticing your life as you're living it.
